Deputy Party Secretary and Deputy President of the Shanghai Conservatory of Music Wang Rui led a group visit to the Netherlands and the United Kingdom from June 2 to 9, for the purpose of international discipline assessment of the study of music and dance.
The delegation visited the Royal Conservatoire of The Hague and met with the Principal Henk van der Meulen and other deans of different departments.
Meulen welcomed the delegation and expressed his wish to cooperate with the SHCM on different levels.
The group was also given an introduction about the MUSIQUE system, which is applied to European music academies for the education level, on the contents, indicators, implementation procedures and actual operation.
The tour moved on to Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Rankings in the UK on June 5, where they exchanged ideas with local experts, including deputy head of the Royal College of Music, on optimizing the international assessment of music disciplines.
Wang later met with Alistair Mackie, chief executive of the Royal Scottish National Orchestra, and talked about cultivating symphony talent as well as promoting SHCM original works abroad.
